Yes, the rumours are true. As Famitsu will report in their next issue, Monster Hunter will come to the 3DS in the form of Monster Hunter Tri G, which is said to expand on the Wii’s successful Monster Hunter Tri game. New functions will include touch screen controls in the form of targeting, which will allow players to face large beasts with a mere tap. Additionally, underwater combat introduced in the Wii game will make a return. Local wireless play was rumoured, but there were no announcements about online play.
As for the new add-on, it will attach a new circle pad next to the face buttons. Players will have to put their 3DS in a new cradle (as depicted above), giving the system a new and bulky look. The add-on will be used for the new Monster Hunter game, but will probably be used for other games as well. As for Monster Hunter, no details about the controls have been given yet, but it’s likely that the added circle pad on the new grip will make the controls resemble the Wii’s Classic Controller Pro setup. Still, it’s one ugly attachment.
